Weekend Mail Out 12th August

Hello folks! This week’s Mail Out is brief because we want to focus on 2 key events. But before that - good luck to all club members running the Lurig Challenge tomorrow - get up (and down) safe!

Monday 15th August - bring yourself (& some eating goodies) to Ecos for the annual club 5K Charity Handicap. NB This event replaces normal Monday training. Advance entries are now closed, but you can still enter at Ecos on Monday evening.

Tuesday 23rd August - Inter Club Race. Everyone wanted!!!

Inter Club Race Sign Up - Update 17th August

WANTED: YOU! Every member of BRAC is eligible and wanted for this event. Some members have yet to receive their invitational email - the club email system is being flakey, but we definitely want you to join the fun. To help an entry form has been added to this post.

Our next big focus as a club is the annual INTER CLUB RACE.  Hosted by Larne AC it takes place on Tuesday 23 August at 7pm. This is a fabulous club competition and Ballymena Runners has a history of being extremely successful. It is an out and back course, 4 miles for the ladies and 5 for the men. The fun bit about it is every single runner counts towards the winning team and not just the winners!

Times please for our Club 5k charity handicap Updated 15th August

The date for our Charity Handicap race is Monday August 15th. Please submit your 5k time using the form at the end of this post. This event is all about getting together socializing and raising a few quid for Charity. I do know some of you are racing or training for a specific goal, a fast 5k will not suit everyone's schedule, just turn up, jog round and support this year’s charity which is the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice at whatever pace suits you.

The local running action kicked off last weekend on Friday evening when the seaside village of Glenarm played host to the annual Dalriada Festival 5k and 10k races with nearly two hundred and fifty athletes turned out between the two races.  The well-organised event, which is part of a week-long festival attracted athletes from the length and breadth of the province, and beyond.

Lurig Training Begins Wed 13th July

Lurig training will commence at 18:30 on Wednesday 13th July and run for four weeks ending Wednesday 3rd August 2016.

During the last 12 months we have seen our most successful year to date in the mountains.  A number of our international runners started their mountain running journey on Lurig.  Lurig is a fabulous short mountain race located in the heart of the glens and forms part of the fantastic Cushendall festival.
