Broughshane 5 Mile Road Race

Monday night saw success for Ballymena Runners in the Broughshane 5 Mile.

Our thanks goes to the sponsors, organisers, marshals, volunteers and everyone who took part on what was a great evening in the racing calendar.

The Ladies Race was won by Kathleen Law (Ballymena Runners) in a time of 31.22 with Natasha Henderson (North Belfast Harriers) claiming second and Laura Wylie (Jog Moira) taking third place.

The Mens Race was won by Jordan Heron (Larne AC) with a time of 25.49 with Tom Fleming (Loughview AC) taking second and David Stewart (Hallamshire Harriers) taking third place.

The Men’s Team Race was won by Ballymena Runners - James Hamilton, Stephen Gage, Sean Hasson and Dale Kirkwod.

The Ladies Team Race was also won by Ballymena Runners - Kathleen Law, Kirstin Agnew, Cherith Wright and Lindsey Robb.

The Mens Age Category Winners were - Chris Hopkins, David Turtle, Ryan Kennedy, Mark Smyth, Michael James, Sean McAuley and Billy Bamber.

The Ladies Age Category Winners were - Kathy Sheridan, Louise Gunn, Muala Muldoon, Karen Wilton, Fiona Prue, Claire Forth, Kate Montgomery and Brigid Quinn.

A host of spot prizes were also awarded at the prize giving ceremony.

Entries are now almost sold out so if you haven’t entered do so now.

There will be no entries on the night and entries close midnight Friday 2 August. Entries cost £18 affiliated and £20 non-affiliated.

Race numbers can be collected from 3pm on race day at the Community Centre.

Please car share to avoid congestion. Parking will be available at the following locations:

  • Second Broughshane Church Car Park (1min walk to registration)

  • Broughshane Community Centre (Limited spaces 60 only)

  • Behind James McNeill Hardware (5min walk to registration 100 spaces)

  • Behind the Thatch (4 min walk to registration 20 spaces)

Ballymena Runners is delighted to announce that entries for the Broughshane 5 Mile Road Race are now open.

Date

The race will be on Monday 5 August 2024. The race starts at 7.00pm near the Broughshane Community Centre.

Entries

£18 affiliated, £20 non-affiliated.

There will be no entries on the night so register as soon as you can. Entries close midnight Friday 2 August.

Pick up your pack at Broughshane Community Centre at 21 Knockan Road, Broughshane from 3.00pm to 6.30pm on race day.

Parking

The Ballymena Runners Big Feed

Please join us after the race for the famous Ballymena Runners Big Feed. As well as all the usual goodies there will be a BBQ burger for all entrants.

Medals and prizes

All finishers will receive a bespoke commemorative medal as they finish.

Prizes will be distributed after the event in the Community Centre.
