New club 800m record set and outstanding runs in Cookstown, Carnlough and the Mournes.

Stanley Reid Memorial

5 Ballymena Runners attended Sperrin Harriers 21st Stanley Reid memorial 5 mile race in a warm up for Monday's home 5 miler. 

A fast and undulating course in fantastic weather made good running for the very well attended event in Cookstown.

Special mention to Elle Forrest Reid for winning her age category.

SEVEN SEVEN'S

On Saturday 3rd August the next round of the NIMRA Championships was held - the Seven Seven’s.

This NIMRA “Long” would see athletes compete over arduous conditions covering 19 mile with over 2700m of climbing. 

Run in an anti-clockwise direction this year start in Newcastle taking in Donard, Commedagh, Bearnagh, Meelmore, Meelbeg, Binnian, Lamagan, and on to finish back in Newcastle.

BRAC fielded three athletes, Duncan Millar, James McLornan, Richard Gamble.

GRC Carnlough Quarry 5K

BRAC runners star at the quarry!

On Friday night 11 Ballymena runners headed to the coast to tackle the annual GRC Carnlough Quarry 5K race.  

A very tough hilly course with over 400 feet of climbing everyone put in an excellent shift and BRAC had 3 runners in the top 5.

The ever consistent Stephen Gage finishing on the podium in 3rd place just ahead of Michael Bennett who was closely followed by Jason Wilson who ran superbly considering he has just returned from injury. 

Tony Scullion, Noel Connor and Robert Clyde followed next to give the Ballymena team 6 in the 1st 17 places, special mention to one of our senior members Billy Bamber who had an excellent run.

Kathleen breaks 800m club record

This evening in an open (NI) Athletics meet at the Mary Peters Track.

Kathleen recorded a PB time of 2 minutes 33 seconds and sets a new ladies club record.

Well done Kathleen!
