It’s been a busy year for Ballymena Runners, with athletic success on the roads, track, trails, and mountains!

The last event in our club's calendar year is our annual charity ‘Santa Run’.

Dozens of our runners, along with their friends and families will run around the town this Thursday night dressed as Santa.

There will be the usual stop off points at the Braid for a photo shoot with local Mid & East Antrim Councillors, and our traditional visit to the Tower Centre to sing carols with the Ballymena Chamber Orchestra, then finishing up in the Adair Arms Hotel.

This year’s charity is the Friends of the Cancer Centre, who have a long and proud history of helping local cancer patients across Northern Ireland.

Based at the heart of the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, the charity funds life-saving and life-changing projects that make a real and lasting difference to the lives of thousands of local people affected by cancer. In the last year alone, Friends of the Cancer Centre has put £1.2 million back into local cancer services. Their work focuses on three key areas - patient care, patient comfort and research – all supporting the services provided by the Health Service.

Ballymena Runners are delighted that a number of local businesses, shops and bars, have already been supporting our fundraising. Our Santa runners will be visiting these business as part of the run on Thursday night to pick up the collection tins and take a few publicity pics.

So here is the plan:

1. Meet at the Adair Arms at 6.00pm
2. The traditional 'elf & Safety' briefing!
3. We will be leaving the Adair Arms at 6.20pm sharp
4. We will then go to the Tower Centre to tie up with the Ballymena Chamber Orchestra to (try) and sing a few carols!
5. After Tower Centre we will head to the Town Hall for a photo shoot with the Mayor at the Christmas Tree.
6. Trot around the town calling in to a few pubs and local businesses to pick up collection tins
7. and back to Adair Arms for hot food, lemonade, and a bit of craic!

Some suits at £15 (santa suit and hot supper!) will be available on the night.

See you there!
