The wintery weekend weather wasn't enough to stop a few hardy souls from Ballymena Runners making their way to Lough Fea to compete in the second race in the Sperrin Harriers Winter Trail Series on Saturday.

Jason Wilson led the club charge with a superb third place finish in 18:04 over 5k despite the difficult underfoot conditions.

Amongst those also running for the club were Andrew Hutchinson (23:45), Jonathan Johnston (23:06), Chris Young (21:06), Steven McBride (21:30), Stephanie Johnston (28:06), Bob Dempster (28:17), Owen Dempster (24:06), Sean Hasson (22:33), Linda Petticrew (23:56), Peter Faith (24:10) and Terry Foley (28:33).

Meanwhile, Sharon Leetch and Rodney Livingstone ran in the North West Cross Country 6k organised by City of Derry Spartans. Running in the grounds of Gransha Park, Sharon came home in 26:14 just ahead of Rodney (26:17).

With both the Ecos and nearby Antrim parkrun cancelled a number of athletes took the opportunity to indulge in a spot of tourism at the surviving events around the country.

Connor Reid took first place in Portrush (20:47) with wife Kathryn finishing 5th lady at the same event (28:19). Elsewhere three members of the Dempster family ran at MUSA Cookstown with Owen recording a time of 23:10, Bob 26:14 and Mary 30:38 while Peter Faith clocked in at 26:35. Tim Hawksworth was in action in Larne (27:12) and Nigel McClintock took fourth overall at Sixmilewater (19:03).
