Kathleen Law wins Ladies 5k at Crebilly

Kathleen Law claims first place at Crebilly 5K

Sunday 21st August saw a strong turnout from Ballymena Runners at the Crebilly 5K run.

The event as held at All Saints GAA club in aid of the local Turning Point NI.  The popular event raised £750 for the charity which focuses on mental health and suicide prevention.

In the Ladies race Kathleen Law took first place with a time of 19 mins and 19 seconds with Paula Worthington finishing second (20.58). In the Mens race Tony Scullion finished third (18.03) behind brother Peter and Francis Donnelly.

It was an impressive run by club members on the hilly Woodside Rd course with six of the top nine places being claimed by runners from the club.   

Running seems to run in families and there were winning performances in the Junior Boys race by brother Charlie Fleck (22.08), Alex Fleck (22.18) and Oliver Fleck (23.32).  In the Junior Girls race Gemma Clyde won in a time of 29.33 with Kate Hasson second (30.50). 

The Fleck, Hassan and Clyde members bust be very proud of their upcoming talent.

Strong turnout at the ladies only Purple Ladies race.

Wednesday evening saw Ballymena runners ladies take part in the ever popular 5k Purple Ladies in Ballymoney.  This is a ladies only race which saw a strong field of almost 200 entries.

Linda Pettigrew was among the first three to finish from the club and won her age category with a time of 22.40.  Naomi Hutchinson put in a strong performance (20.30) as did Noleen McKillop (23.56).

Jack McKenna takes Second at the Forth

Jack McKenna came second in the Forth Road Bridge 10k in a superb time of 35.38.  A brilliant performance from Jack in a strong field of almost 350 competitors.
