Jason Wilson wins Carnlough Quarry 5K!

Jason Wilson wins Carnlough Quarry 5K!

Well done to club member Jason Wilson on winning the event in 18.48!

Starting in the heart of the village the runners travelled up a concrete lane for under a mile before hitting the quarry with its loose limestone paths under foot. This is where the real climbing started, but with the reward of some epic views of the coastline, before descending the other side of the Quarry and out onto the Largy Road. Then a fast descent into the heart of the village under one of the iconic limestone bridges to the finish line.

The superb event was promoted by Glenlough Runners.

First to finish was Jason Wilson (18:48) with Tony Scullion (19:11) just missing out on a podium place in overall fourth place. Mountain running teammates William Fleck (20:30) and Mark Alexander (20:38) were next to finish followed by Nigel McClintock (21:25), Duncan Millar (21:26), Peter Fleming (22:13) and Derrick Rea (22:58) followed by John Watt and Beverly Kidd crossing the line together in 34:57.

The next outings for the club will be the popular Crebily 5k and the Broughshane 5k and 10k
