26 Extreme Mourne Way Trail 10k

Congratulations to Ruth Aiken who finished 3rd at 26 Extreme's Mourne Way Trail 10k in an impressive time of 53:13. The course was set in the Mourne Mountains and took in some of the best scenery and trail running Northern Ireland has to offer, with a mix of terrain from rocks and gravel trails to open mountain, mud and grass.

Wild Atlantic Way!

The Donegal Wild Atlantic Marathon and Half Marathon is one of Ireland’s iconic road marathons, running entirely along the Wild Atlantic Way.

The marathon starts at Killybegs and finishes at Glencolmcille village, with the Half marathon starting and finishes at Glencolmcille. The finish line by the stunning Glencolmcille beach provided the perfect setting for the ice cream and beer refreshments for the hardly Ballymena Runners who made the trip to Donegal at the weekend.

Well done to Tim Hawksworth in the Marathon, and to Peter Faith and Francis McGuigan in the Half Marathon.

And finally . . .  mountain running doesn’t always need to be serious!

Ballymena Runners continue to do well at the Newcastle AC ‘Hill and Dale’ race series but always enjoy some fun at the races.

Last week’s race was no doubt the the toughest and most technically challenging race, with athletes covering 8km and 800m as they ascended Carn, Doan, Slieve Loughshannagh and Ott before returning to the start near Spelga Dam.

Well done all ! Glad you enjoyed it!
