If your not sure what to ask Santa for why not ask for something that lets you see and be seen.
Running lights provide great light ahead to see where you are running and have red lights at the back so you can be seen. If you are a leader or tail runner these are almost a necessity.
There are lots of different ones out there with prices from as little as around £15. Around £30 will get you you a good, bright, rechargeable one. Things to look for are:
does it have a front LED (white) and rear LED (red) light
is it rechargable or will you have to buy new batteries every time
how bright is it (250 lumens is good and 100 is the minimum you should look for)
does it have different light settings (eg 250 lumens for 2.5 hours or 125 lumens for 5 hours)

A good running light will last for years and is only a fraction of the cost of a pair of running shoes.
