It's Parktoberfest

Parkrun marks a special 16th birthday in October and to celebrate is running a parktoberfest to allow people to join the celebrations.

Parktoberfest  a special celebration of 16 years of parkrun.  Ballymena Runners have been heavily involved with Ecos Parkrun and we wanted Ecos parkrunners to join in the celebrations throughout the month of October.

Here’s a link to the uk parkrun website giving all the details about the Parktoberfest and how Ballymena runners and all our friends at ecos parkrun can play their part.

We are keen to encourage as many people as possible to join in with a walk, walk/run, jog or run.  Once you do it you go online a and post your results.  In essence its simple:

You have to walk, jog or run 5k each week and keep a note of your time.  You must obey the current health guidance in place at the time so don’t all turn up at Ecos at 9.30 on a Saturday.  Run different places at different times and on different days.

Once you have completed the distance simply log your time via your parkrun profile.

If you’re new to parkrun, just sign up here to register and take part

These are not ordinary parkruns and are known as (not)parkrun.  They are intended to be a bit of fun, provide an opportunity to keep engaged, help motivate people and for us to climb the (not) parkrun leaderboard.

Needless to say there has often been the social side of parkrun – enjoying the cuppa, buns and cake with friends afterwards.  We want to encourage this co why not send us a pic after your run with a cuppa in your hand or something equally cheery.  We will set up an Ecos not parkrun group for or people to send in their posts.  Details to follow.

So lets get out there doing 5ks and get them up on facebook and make ECOS (not) parkrun the biggest show in the Country with a target of 50 runners in the last week of October.
