Grass Training & Cross Country

Well it's almost that time of year. Yes, grass racing time! The NI Winter League starts on Saturday 22nd October with the Bobby Rea Memorial Cross Country to be held at the beautiful Kilbroney Park,Rostrevor. The women's 5K race is at 2.40pm; men's 8K race at 3.10pm.

Over the following Saturdays we have the Comber Cup on 29 Oct and the McConnell Shield on 5 Nov.

To help you prep for these events we're offering club training on Sunday 9th October & Saturday 15th October. Meet 9:30am at Peoples Park for warmup laps and then run to Sentry Hill for the workout. Bring spikes or trail shoes. Cool down is the run back to Peoples Park (after changing shoes). In Week 1 the session will be 3 x 8 minutes, jog 4 minutes. In Week 2 is will be 3x10minutes, jog 4 minutes.

Everyone is welcome.

PS If you're confused, re cross country v grass running, it's all part of a cunning plan to rebrand cross country. The truth is most cross country races are on the grassy mounds around playing pitches or beautiful parks. We seldom ever get to slip and slide around in mud anymore. Cross country events are a great afternoon out.
