PBs at Titanic 10k and races in Carlingford and Ayrshire

Flagstaff to Carlingford Mountain Race

On Saturday 15th June the 9th round of the Northern Ireland Mountain Running (NIMRA) Championship took place in the Cooley Mountains, County Louth. This race is categorised as a NIMRA long and would see athletes race over 11 miles and 3,000 feet.

Competitors raced along the Cooley ridge taking in Anglesey Mountain, Clermont, Black Mountain and Carnwaddy before descending to the road crossing at Windy Gap.  The next section saw athletes negotiate the long and technically difficult section to the summit of the majestic Slieve Foye standing at 2,000 feet, the highest peak in the Cooley Mountains.  A fast and furious descent returned the athletes to sea level in the picturesque village of Carlingford for some well-earned refreshments.

Ballymena fielded three athletes for this race. Ruth Aiken, Mark Alexander and William Fleck. Thank you to Armagh Athletic Club for another fantastic event.

Skirt the Skeith 12k

Women's Vet win for Elle Forrest Reid in a photo finish with buddy Shauna MacMullan at the hilly Skirt the Skeith 12k race in Dalry, Ayrshire. Elle reckoned she was given the nod for being furthest travelled. Well organised race by @Dalry Development Community Hub with lovely hilly rural roads and a fantastic community feel, well worth a visit!

Moy Park Belfast City Women's 10k

On Sunday 23rd June, 17 BRAC ladies made their way to a warm but overcast Belfast to take part in the Moy Park Belfast City Women's 10k.

3 BRAC ladies also gave up their time to volunteer at the event and cheer the runners on.

It was a flat two lap course around the iconic Titanic Quarter, taking in some of the City's greatest attractions and finishing on the Maritime Mile. The almost perfect weather conditions & flat course saw many PB's achieved!
