Lecale ultra
Denise Doherty, George Buckley and Scott Fleming completed the Lecale ultra covering almost 33 miles from Strangford to Newcastle. Well done.
The TJ McElmeel Cup, Armagh XC
Sunday 24th September marked the start of the Cross-Country season and 19 hardy Ballymena Runners journeyed to Armagh to participate in the inaugural race, The TJ McElmeel Cup.
After a week of heavy rain, conditions in Palace Demense were cross-country perfect: wet, slippy and very muddy. A few hills and sharp corners added to the fun.
Undeterred, the 9 members of the Ladies Team put on a strong performance with Nena Cormican leading the side home over the 5km course.
The Men's Team faced a longer 7.5km route, most of which had been churned up in the previous races. Tony Scullion led the troupe of 10 Ballymena Runners home.
Great performances all round from both the Ladies and Men's Teams. A special mention to Carmel and Luke on their cross-country debut!
Ladies Team: Nena, Claire, Aine, Susanna, Catherine, Nikki, Carmel, Brigid, Mairead
Men's Team: Paddy, Jim, Sam, William, Darren, Luke, John, Darren, James, Tony
Thanks to Susanna for driving!
Next Outing: Bobby Rea Cup, Billy Neill Country Park on 21st October.
That should be enough time to get the muddy boots dried out...
Belfast City Half Marathon
A great turnout from Ballymena Runners at the sellout 10th anniversary Belfast City Half Marathon. Even though the day started with a downpour the fast course brought some great results with several PBs.
Special mention to James Hamilton who came 18th and Stephen Gage who came 32nd.
Loads of PBs and great runs across the club (well done all!)
