Ballymena Runners Cross Country at Queens!
This weekend the club fielded a men’s and women’s team at the Malcolm Cup.
The Malcolm Cup (over 4 miles), along with the women’s event (3 miles) and the men’s veterans (3 miles) cross country races, are promoted by Annadale Striders, and forms part of the Northern Ireland Cross Country League. The event took place on Sunday 28 November at the Queens University Malone Playing Fields, Dub Lane, Belfast.
Kieran Scullion finished 7th overall in the Masters event in a time of 17.15, closely followed by Pawel Lapinski (19:15) and Declan Hasson (21:42).
In the Malcolm Cup race James Hamilton finished 8th overall in a time of 21:50. James was followed by John Hasson (26:27) and Nigel Davidson (31:01).
In the women’s race, Paula Worthington and Brigid Quinn won their respective age categories. The club women’s runners finished as follows: Paula Worthington (20:09), Geraldine Quigley (21:20), Judith Worthington (21:21), Naomi Hutchinson (22:21), Sinead Scullion (23:05), Denise Doherty (23:36) and Brigid Quinn (29:28).
What next for Ballymena Runners Cross Country?
More of our members are taking part in the Cross Country. Ballymena Runners would really like to see as many members as possible joining in races and to have a good attendance at the Cross Country League. With your help we have a great chance to be one of the top teams in Northern Ireland.
The club’s next target races in the Northern Ireland Cross Country League are the Irwin Speirs Memorial XC, with Acorns AC, Cookstown on 11 December, and the North West (City of Derry Spartans) Templemore, Derry on the 18 December.
