What a busy weekend for the Belles!

What a busy weekend for the Belles!

From the 4th to the 8th September the Ballymena Belles Team had almost 400 people participating in their virtual 2020 Five Mile Run.

Over the weekend our team was busy getting medals and complimentary gifts ready for the runners. In association with our main sponsor, McKillop's Spar Fry’s Road the Belles team offered a special medal collection event. Our Belles team were on site to welcome runners and to hear how they got on! McKillop's Spar very kindly added a few more goodies to our race packs and even supplied cupcakes!

We were delighted to see we had runs taking place all over the UK, Ireland and even as far as Latvia! Our Facebook page was flooded with pictures and stories, and it was great reading everyone’s different stories behind their reasons for taking part.

This included one of our pre-lockdown Ballymena Runners Couch to 5k ‘cosy sofa’ graduates, Marianne. We are delighted that the Belles event provided Marianne and many others with the opportunity to achieve this goal and win her first Five Mile Event medal

Special thanks to our friends from other running clubs who arranged smaller socially distanced groups to meet up to complete the run together.

Special thanks also for local businesses who sponsored us to enable us to have this event, Spar Fry Road as our Main sponsor, JKC Mini, Tullyglass, Nobel, Wallace and Robert Adair Jewellers.

Lastly but no way least Run Director Naomi would like to formally thank the team of girls who greatly assisted her in making Ballymena Belles 2020 Virtual Run a successful event. These were, Stephanie Johnston, Catherine Stewart, Colleen Rainey, Linda Petticrew and Helena Moore. Sincere thanks to all.

Keep an eye on social media to see the faces behind these names, the winners of spot prizes and for our remaining last few updates. We plan to have our final amount for Women’s Aid announced announced soon.
