Weekly report w/e 27th October 2019

All roads led to Dublin this weekend for the 40th anniversary edition of the KBC Dublin Marathon.

Now the fourth largest marathon in Europe, some 22,500 runners pounded the streets of the Fair City with Ballymena Runners well represented amongst their number.

Sharon Leetch led the club charge, coming home in an unofficial time of 3:10:53 which was just a matter of seconds outside the female club record time which she set at the same event twelve months ago.

Stephen Gage, competing in his first marathon, ran the 26.2 mile course in a fantastic 3:13:17 while club captain Andrew Hutchinson crossed the line in 3:28:24.

Amongst those also running in club colours were Brigid Quinn (5:35:14), Claire Martin (4:18:59), Wendy McAuley (4:25:27), Elaine Scullion (4:38:30), Eugene Reid (4:06:07) and Iverene Carlton who recorded a new personal best of 5:07:17.

Meanwhile, away from Dublin, there was success for Ryan Armstrong on Saturday when he took first place in the EAMS Half Marathon in 1:35:44.
