It might still be holiday season but Ballymena Runners were very much in action around the country.
Divis 10k Trail Race
A hardy trio of runners braved the elements on Saturday to take on the challenge of the Divis 10k Trail Race.
A tough, steep run, especially for the first two miles, the route took runners towards the summit of Black Mountain over rocks, stiles and gravel before following the course of the Collin River.
All three performed admirably with Connor Reid producing a superb run to claim the runners-up spot in 41:20 while Peter Faith (56:17) and Terry Foley (1:09:11) also competed.
LacPatrick Milk Run
A strong team of 18 runners made their way to Ballymoney on Friday night for the annual LacPatrick Milk Run 5-mile Road Race, hosted by Springwell Running Club.
Ben Morrow led the Ballymena charge, finishing sixth overall and breaking the 30-minute barrier in 28:30. Ben came home just ahead of Eamon Loughran (14th; 30:11) and Noel Connor (18th; 30:28).
A further five runners came home in under 35-minutes, namely Ian McCracken (31:18), Rodney Livingstone (32:27), Daniel McClelland (32:59), Louis Fleming (33:04) and John Donnelly (33:27) while there were age category wins for Billy Bamber and Brigid Quinn.
Also running were Harry Armstrong, Conor Daly, Michael Johnston, Geoff McClean, Maria McKeown, Cara McShane, Chris Magill and Zara Surgenor.
parkrun round-up
As ever Ballymena Runners were out and about at the various Saturday morning parkrun's around the country.
At the local Ecos event David Law was first home for the seventh time, clocking in at 18:59, while there were personal bests for Scott Fleming (22:50) and Carmel McHugh (29:00).
Away from home, a further 14 athletes were in action at events everywhere from Portrush to Enniskillen.
In Antrim James Hamilton claimed top spot in 16:44 with Jack McKenna finishing fourth in 18:32.
Further afield, John and Aine Hasson travelled to Rostrevor. John finished 8th overall while Aine crossed the line as second lady.
Elsewhere, Jonathan McCloy ran to a fifth placed finish at Belfast Victoria, Jonathan Graham was 8th in Enniskillen with Harry Armstrong (Comber), Jennifer Dickson (Valley), Tim Hawksworth (Valley), Beverly Kidd (Limavady), Sandy McDermott (Valley), David McKean (Stormont), Catherine O'Boyle (Limavady) and Fiona Stewart (Portrush) also making an appearance.
