Hill and Dale - Slieve Martin
The third instalment in Newcastle AC's Hill and Dale series was held on Thursday night, with a record entry of 277 runners tackling the challenging course over Slieve Martin in Rostrevor.
Amongst that number was the usual strong contingent from Ballymena Runners with Jonathan McCloy the first to cross the line in 42:06, just ahead of Mark Alexander (43:04) and Tim Lowry (44:47).
Also running in club colours were Ruth Aiken, Alastair Donaghy, Emma Donnelly, Adrian Dodds and Joseph McDermott.
Purple Ladies 5k
On Wednesday night nearly three hundred female athletes took on the annual Purple Ladies 5k road race in Ballymoney, an event hosted by Springwell Running Club.
Ballymena Runners provided 39 of those taking on the 3.1 mile route, the biggest turnout of any club other than the hosts themselves.
And our ladies produced impressive performances throughout the field. First home was Linda Petticrew (22:04), followed by Susanna Allen (22:27) and Alison Foster (23:00).
In addition, both Linda and Susanna claimed age category victories as did Brigid Quinn. Well done ladies!
