Ballymena Runners Cross Country success in Ballyclare and our Ecos Parkrun Christmas Appeal with Ballymena Foodbank is launched

Ballymena Runners Cross Country success!

On Saturday Ballymena Runners AC visited the home of cross country Ballyclare for the 86th McConnell Shield hosted by East Antrim Harriers.

In preparation the club held a ‘Cross Country Taster Session’ last weekend at the Sixmilewater Park Ballyclare. Thanks to club coaches Ray Curran and Susanna Allen for leading the new members of the BRAC XC Squad around the course.

On race day Ballymena Runners we’re well represented with 14 runners competing in the Senior ladies, lady Vets and Male over 60 in the 3 mile race.

In the highlight race of the day, the 86th running of the McConnell Shield, 16 BRAC men and male vets competed over 5 one mile laps.

With a very strong squad Ballymena Runners finished 3rd overall, behind Annadale Striders (1st) and North Belfast Harriers (2nd).

Ballymena Runners scoring athletes in the men’s team event were; James Hamilton, Kieran Scullion, John Nicholson, Michael Bennett, Ian McCracken, and Pawel Lapinski.

Well done to all who competed.

The club’s next cross country #target race’ is the Comber Cup Sunday 21 November at the Billy Neill Playing Fields, Comber

Ballymena Runners and Ecos Parkrun Christmas Appeal with Ballymena Foodbank.

Ballymena Runners are the partner club for our local parkrun at Ecos. We will be working in partnership with the Ballymena Foodbank in the build up to Christmas to help local families in crisis.

On Saturday 13, 20, and 27 November we will be collecting donations for Christmas Hampers.

In the coming weeks we will also be collecting trainers (nearly new) and running gear, that folks don't need anymore, for our local Foodbank who work as part of the Trussell Trust.

If you want to get involved, or to discuss how you can support our local Foodbank - come and say hello at Ecos on Saturday morning.
